Texas Guide
Texas is the largest US state and is located in the southern United States with borders on Mexico, 4 other states and the Gulf of Mexico. There is a lot to see and do in this vast state, where you have a combination of large modern cities, sandy beaches, open plains, farms, cattle ranches and real live cowboys.

Houston is the largest city in Texas and is located on the gulf coast. The Houston area has plenty to offer its visitors. It is the home of the world's largest livestock show: the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which is held each March. There are several professional sports teams that include basketball, football, baseball and hockey so you won't have trouble finding a live sporting event at most times of the year. The Theatre District has a variety of performances in the areas of ballet, symphonies and plays. In the Culture Space you will find several interesting and educational museums. If you are looking for a great night out on the town, Houston has that too! Just head to the Downtown Entertainment District where there are dozens of restaurants, bars and clubs. The entertainment district is a good place to stay for a visit to Houston, as it is located close to many sports venues and museums.

Another well-known Texas city is Dallas. It is probably the most famous Texas city due to the popular soap opera that shares its name. Dallas is a shopper's paradise, it has more shops per capita than any other city in the United States. But shopping isn't the only good feature of Dallas, there are a number of excellent museums and cultural centres that will keep you busy for days. The nightlife is happening as well, with over 12 entertainment districts full of international cuisines, bars and clubs. And of course Dallas is home to the famous Dallas Cowboys football team.

Outside of the cities Texas has loads to offer. There are over 600 miles of coastline so you will have no problem finding a beach to relax on. Corpus Christi Harbor is a popular destination for people of all ages. It is home to the Texas State Aquarium, which the kids will love, and you can take cruise of the harbor or head across the bay to one of the best bird watching trails in the state. If you want to meet some authentic cowboys then visit one of the working ranches, where you can they day-to-day activities and even lend a hand.
